Fostering Programme for Baby Eland
Fostering Programme for Baby ElandA tiny baby Eland was found abandoned by its mother outside Ngerende Island Lodge on the 18th August 2010 and since then has been part of the Ngerende family. He was recetly relocated to the Nairobi National Park. The new baby Eland which was named Ole Namyak (a Masai name for the lucky one ) was found by Daniel Nabala the lodge resident Masai naturalist when he was taking guests on a nature walk. The baby Eland was 2 weeks old and to be kept alive was feed on milk 3 times a day by William Kipira who is the lodge resident Masai flute player. William and the Eland have formed a special bond. Ole Namyakâs celebrated his 1st birthday and we are proud to have had the chance to save the baby Eland that would have otherwise perished. He is relocated to Nairobi National Park where he now looks forward to a better quality of life. |
If you would like to helpBy fostering Ole Namyak, we will ensure that your donation goes towards the preservation of the Olchoro Conservancy providing saltlicks and dams for the wildlife, providing social services and supporting various projects for the local Masai community who live from the land.
